Bar/Bat-Mitzvah misconceptions, and preconceived notions
A Bat/Bar-Mitzvah is the Jewish tradition kids have to celebrate the transition of child to adulthood.
One misconception people and parents have is that this event is a means to convert or persuade a child to become Jewish. What parents and some people don't realize is this is basically a fun sometimes expensive birthday party, and not a religious event. I pose the question to anyone reading this and open up the discussion on an event like this or any other event such as a Halloween party or a baptismal. |
Would you allow your child to go to a bar/bat-mitzvah, Halloween party, baptismal party, or any other event like this?
If so why, and if not why?
What are your thoughts on a parent not allowing their child to attend an event like this?

This blog isn't meant to bash anyone, but to openly discuss opinions and possibly clear up misconceptions.
The reason I posted this blog is I had a Bar-mitzvah in which I was the DJ for that I was honored to be a part of, and everyone had an excellent time, but I found out some parents would not allow there children to attend. They did not want them to be converted to the Jewish religion or persuaded to reconsider there beliefs.
